AUSTIN — There is no shortage of ways to save money in the world of home shopping, but when it comes to Mexico City, there is nothing like visiting a supermarket as a vacationer.
A recent survey by the online retailer Zara found that nearly 80% of Mexicans will shop online on vacation, and many will spend up to $1-1,500 in a single trip.
According to the Zara survey, Mexicans are more likely to shop online in the United States than anywhere else in the country.
But, in the most populous Mexican city, Mexico City alone is home to almost 20% of all grocery sales in the U.S.
According the survey, 80% said they plan to shop at grocery stores at least once during their vacation.
Zara’s data also showed that Mexican shoppers were more likely than American shoppers to spend money on travel items, including food and beverages.
