Lubbocks Big 4 pet stores have been quietly planning to add 5 pet locations, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The Big 4 Pet Stores have been meeting for weeks to discuss how they can best serve pet lovers in the state.
According to the Journal, PetCo has been working to find the right location for the new PetCo Pet Store in Litchfield, where it plans to add 1,500 square feet of space.
The plan would also involve renovating the PetCo Store in the city of Lubb, which is slated to open later this year.
The PetCo stores have seen a surge in popularity as pet owners increasingly flock to the state for their convenience and quality of life.
Last year, Lubbons pet owners spent nearly $9.2 million at the Petco stores.
The Petco store has been a popular destination for pet owners, with pet lovers spending an average of $3,000 a visit.
The pet store also offers an array of specialty products, including pet food, shampoo and pet toys.
The Lubbites pet owners have also become adept at using the pet stores online marketplace, PetGurus, to find pets and help them find new homes.
